Industries within the power generation sector are focused on two main components, power output efficiency and cost effectiveness. Reaching the ideal balance between needed power and a feasible price for equipment to fit your power project is imperative and a looming task when it comes to planing your operation. USP&E Global, a Celina, Texas based power generation EPC and O&M leader provides technical solutions and answers as well as consulting to maximize power output for your dollar. In addition, USP&E and its partners are able to ensure that your power operation is able to implement the best solutions for your needs in terms of efficiency, environmental impact, cost effectiveness and overall customer satisfaction. The partnership between USP&E and GE Power & Water offer the GE Clean Cycle power generator to ‘turn your reciprocating engine heat into additional power.’ The GE Clean Cycle option provides a solution for such daunting questions between power and price as it provides a way to turn excess heat into added power for no additional fuel consumption. The GE Clean Cycle power generator through the help of USP&E and GE Power and Water, is truly revolutionizing the power industry.
GE Clean Cycle
When heat from exhaust is given off by reciprocating generators, possible added power is lost. However, this lost power potential has met its match. The GE Clean Cycle power generator ‘captures energy in the form of heat and converts it into usable energy in the form of electricity.’ Known as Organic Ranking Cycle (ORC), this technology adds power at no additional fuel usage, to maximize your power generation output. ORC, as mentioned, captures heat from exhaust and heat exchangers, in which organic fluid (refrigerant) is then pumped through the exchangers exposing it to heat. This heat converts the refrigerant to vapor form where it expands across a turbine forcing it to spin. The turbine, which is integrated into a hermetically sealed power module paired with a 125 kW generator, creates the desired electricity, with additional vapor being cooled back into the liquid stage in a condenser repeating the cycle.
Pros of the Clean Cycle
The GE Clean Cycle is an answer to efficiency and cost effective questions. With an increase in output of up to 125 kW of electricity, no additional fuel, and a 5% increase in efficiency and 10% increase in power generation the GE Clean Cycle answers it all. The versatile system makes it applicable for new and used reciprocating engines and can also be integrated with differing heat output levels due to the advanced monitoring technology.
